Gauchito Club es una banda de Mendoza que crece a pasos agigantados. Su debut, Guandanara (2018), es uno de los discos más novedosos de la escena mendocina actual. Kevin Johansen usaba el término «degenerado» para referirse a grupos que no son fáciles de encasillar. En ese sentido, Gauchito Club es lo más degenerado posible. Las once paradas del álbum son una colorida fiesta donde se mezcla pop, reggae, jazz, ska, rock, cumbia y mucho más. Es una invitación a bailar sin prejuicios, música que suena muy distinta pero con una misma idea que hila toda su sonoridad. Junto a la variedad de sonidos que crea el conjunto, destacan el recurso humorístico, la parodia y el juego, que comprenden la otra parte del imaginario colectivo de la agrupación.
Gauchito Club se presentará en Buenos Aires por segunda vez en el año: la orquesta cuyana vuelve después de su show en el Matienzo, esta vez, el viernes a la Sala Humboldt (ex Niceto Lado B) y el sábado a la ciudad de La Plata en Lucamba Club Cultural. En la previa charlamos con Toby Deltin (bajista), Manu Nazar (baterista) y Nahuel Quimey (percusión), quienes nos contaron sobre su mundo y lo que se viene para el club.
SPE: ¿Cómo fue la recepción de la Guandanara?
Gauchito Club: ¡Muy bien! Muchos de los temas del disco ya los veníamos tocando y de alguna manera sentíamos que al público le empezaba a brotar esa semilla gauchita, pero una vez que salió nos sorprendió gratamente el alcance y la rápida propagación de las canciones. Guandanara ya tiene sus primeros tatuajes (risas).
SPE: ¿De dónde salen todos los recursos que componen el disco (vox populi, el humor, el sample, etc)?
GC: En principio, te diríamos que los recursos son variados porque entre los siete integrantes que componen Gauchito cada uno es un flash constante. Pero también hacemos mucha referencia desde lo conceptual a la década del 90, tanto en el sonido como en el humor, el vestuario, etc.
SPE: ¿Hay una intención o búsqueda por todo lo gracioso y satírico, o es natural?
GC: No nace como una intención ser graciosos, en realidad fue la forma que encontramos de comunicar lo que queríamos. Luego obviamente entendimos que ese universo narrativo estaba bueno para desarrollarlo y seguimos creando en esa dirección. Eso tampoco quiere decir que Gauchito Club se encasille en algo. Justamente la idiosincrasia de la banda es no estar atada a nada.
“NO NOS VAN LAS ETIQUETAS, NI EN LA MÚSICA NI EN LA VIDA”
SPE: Al ser un grupo que no se puede encasillar en un género predominante, ¿cómo hacen para llegar a tanta gente? ¿Están de acuerdo con que su música es para todos?
GC: A nuestro estilo lo llamamos «Indie tropical». La verdad que nos tocó una época, a nivel cultural, en la que se consume mucho de todo, todo el tiempo. Quizás veinte años atrás Gauchito no hubiese llegado a lo que es hoy. Por otro lado, creemos en lo genuino del mensaje. Si lo que haces es verdadero y sale del corazón, a la gente le va a llegar. Muchos nos siguen porque nos vieron en vivo y flashearon con la energía que se trasmite desde el escenario.
SPE: ¿La ausencia de un género predominante puede ser un género en sí? ¿Qué ventajas encuentran en esta «libertad?»
GC: Sí, por supuesto. No nos van las etiquetas, ni en la música ni en la vida. La libertad que te da es única: llegamos a la sala, y si pinta hacer un tema flamenco, lo hacemos. No cuestionamos si va a pegar con el otro tema que es rockero; lo sentimos, lo armamos y lo hacemos. Esa es la dinámica de laburo de la banda: sin prejuicios. Decimos lo que vemos y sentimos con nuestra lírica que es, si se quiere, la línea transversal de todas las canciones.
“LA IDEA ES TENER EL NUEVO DISCO A FINALES DE ESTE AÑO”
SPE: ¿Qué efecto está teniendo el boom mendocino de los últimos años en la escena? ¿Creen que esa ola también los ayuda?
GC: Mendoza hace varios años que es el foco de la escena indie argentina y claramente eso nos ayudó. Perras on the Beach y Usted Señalemelo fueron quienes empezaron a abrir el camino para que luego vengamos el resto. Pero, la escena mendocina también es el resultado de la gran autogestión de cada banda que, a falta de políticas públicas culturales, ensaya 3 veces por semana, graba de manera independiente su disco y trata de tocar en todos los lugares posibles.
SPE: ¿Qué sigue este 2019?
GC: Tenemos planeado girar por Uruguay, Chile, volver en junio a Bs.As, Córdoba y Rosario. Además, el 25 de mayo en N8 (Mendoza) tenemos alto fiestón por el aniversario de Guandanara, así que están todes invitades al festejo con la escarapela, los ponchos y el locro de mondongo. También estamos empezando a cranear el segundo álbum, que va a tener muchas sorpresas. La idea es lanzar nuevo single en un par de meses y ya tener todo el disco listo para fines de este año.
