MU6 SPACE 2 HEADPHONES REVIEW: A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Space 2 headphones would work, if they weren’t from Mu6 company

I write this review about Mu6 Space 2 headphones to prevent people from suffering what I have suffered. The headphones are decent, they have a nice price point, but the company behind them is a nightmare and you take a big risk by purchasing their product.

I bought my Mu6 Space 2 headphones from the official company website, where they offered free shipping worldwide, besides a warranty. First, it took 2 months for the product to arrive. I had to email the company 3 times before they confirmed sending the package and sharing with me the tracking code via UPS. When they finally arrived, I had to pay extra custom taxes because they labeled the FOB value higher than the actual one.

I used the headphones for one month and an annoying noise appeared when noise cancelling mode was on (the headphones run on noise cancelling, transparent and clear mode, being the standar the noise cancelling one). I wrote to the company to enforce my warranty and they asked for proof, so I recorded some videos showing the problem, all of this after emailing several times the customer support team, who seem not to speak English and are probably using an online translator to answer emails. I could guess this by judging the incoherences they answer sometimes, showing they didn’t properly get what I said, besides the awkward structure of their sentences.

Usually, when companies don’t have operations in the country from where the warranty claim comes (therefore being unable to change it at a store) they ask for proof of destroyal before sending a new product, taking care of all costs linked to the arrival of the replacement (that includes custom taxes). It is a very standard process. Here, they ask me to send the headphones back to Hong Kong for them to check them (after receiving my video perfectly depicting the issue), what would be even more money paid by me. I complain about this and they stop answering.

I am still arguing via email to get a proper solution, and they don’t even answer social media. Also, after another month, the auto play/pause sensor they have integrated in the left ear stopped working, so when I take my headphones off they don’t pause, and when I put them back on they don’t play, something that is supposed to happen.

I choose Mu6 Space 2 headphones because they offer similar capabilities to a Sony and a Bose headphones for ⅔ of the price, but choosing a Chinese startup with no sense of customer care ended up costing me deeply. Also, two non related issues (annoying noise on right ear and proximity sensor on the left ear) within the first 2 months of use? Weird quality.
