Cuando empezamos el recorrido de esta columna no sabíamos muy bien a dónde nos iba a llevar ni dónde iba a terminar. De todas formas, no creemos que pueda haber un final, pues como todo proceso, el de pensarse y trabajarse a uno mismo es siempre un camino. Esperamos haber encontrado algunas herramientas, sabiendo que no nos acercamos a ninguna conclusión definitiva porque no estamos en condiciones de responder esa pregunta que abría la columna: ¿de qué hablamos cuando hablamos de nuevas masculinidades? Porque el término «nuevo» es una palabra comodín que valora positivamente un acontecimiento que, en este caso, tiene poco de novedoso.
El hashtag cómico de #NotAllMen es un punto de reflexión. Es cierto que no todos los hombres matamos, golpeamos, violamos, destruimos, pero, a la vez, todos estamos envueltos en redes cuyo funcionamiento es opresivo para otras identidades sexo-genéricas y que nos devuelve posiciones de privilegios y facilidades para ascender en la escala social. Entonces, otras posibilidades entraron al radar y no terminamos de saber cuál es la posición correcta. Por un lado reivindicamos el hecho de deconstruirse, de pensar y reflexionar en torno a uno mismo, de intentar desarmar mecanismos y formas heredadas; por el otro, si el lema “dejen de matarnos” es cierto, no hace falta que todos seamos aliades ni que estemos metidos en el tema, parecería que alcanzaría con no ser unos machirulos. En cuanto a la cuestión de si tenemos que hacer espacio para otras subjetividades, ¿puede resolverse con una respuesta negativa, pensando que esas subjetividades se harán su lugar, y que nosotros solamente tenemos que dejar de negárselo? ¿O tenemos que trabajar para construir ese espacio?
Para construir un mundo más habitable y menos violento, ¿alcanza con no ser parte del problema?
¿De qué sirve todo esto? ¿Para qué lo escribimos y pensamos si hoy dudamos de su valor y su potencial? Tener en claro la propia grandeza, y exagerarla, es quizás un rasgo de la masculinidad más rancia, aún cuando la grandeza no sea tal, porque como comentó Marilina Bertoldi, para nosotros “alcanza con hacer algo mediocre para ser reconocidos”. Así es que no sabemos si todo esto tiene algún tipo de valor o de efecto en posibles lectores y lectoras, pero quizás si hay alguien que a partir de haberse encontrado con alguna de estas notas se llevó alguna reflexión, alguna ayuda para pensar alguna cuestión, el propio objetivo de quien escribe se va a haber visto cumplido con creces. No existe una receta para dejar de ser machistas, porque aún está por verse si es posible que dejemos de serlo habiendo visto cómo fuimos criados, y es allí donde ingresa la posibilidad de que un poco de reflexión y un poco de cuidado pueden habilitar otro mundo. Una incorporación de la dimensión política tal como se la entiende en el mundo contemporáneo, la política de las alianzas y las negociaciones, en el momento en el que reconocemos que no vamos a ser voceros de una nueva ética ni paladines de la deconstrucción, sino que somos un actorado político y social que tiene que elegir de qué lado de la mecha se encuentra, con todo lo que eso conlleva. Cuando en junio entrevistamos a Benito Cerati para charlar de estas cuestiones, nos dejó una frase que nos sirve para pensar en esta línea: “Más que ser feminista o no, [me gusta] tenerlo en cuenta. Yo lo aplico en mi vida: quiero ser una buena persona y ciertos elementos del feminismo me acercan a serlo”.
Hemos escrito muchas veces que no nos interesaba juzgar a los individuos que elegimos porque el problema es estructural y que solo los tomábamos como ejemplos para poder plantear problemáticas y pensar en torno a ellas. Sin embargo, resulta imposible no pensar en casos particulares y terminamos estudiando también a las personas. No quisiéramos hacer radiografías de la masculinidad en los artistas, pero, a la vez, es necesario para vernos a nosotros. No queremos poner las manos en el fuego por ninguno de los que hemos valorado positivamente, ni destrozar a los que hemos criticado. Se eleva aquí la teoría de que el arte (y por extensión, los artistas) es un espejo de la sociedad en la que se crea y nos devuelve tanto las cosas positivas como negativas. Que un buen poeta es aquel que puede en sus palabras encontrar el murmullo invisible de las significaciones preponderantes para una sociedad o un grupo social, que la capacidad de decir cosas que nos atraviesan es la capacidad de escribir un buen estribillo.
Lo que vamos a reivindicar es la transformación
Ill Quentin, unos días antes de que tengamos una entrevista para esta columna, tuiteó: “La mía es masculinidad ágil”, y a pesar de tener ese carácter “medio en serio medio en chiste” que atraviesa todas nuestras enunciaciones, nos deja un concepto interesante para pensar en el futuro. La agilidad para escapar, para escabullirse, para salvarse, la agilidad como característica de un cuerpo pequeño ante el cuerpo enorme y bruto que abusa de la fuerza. La agilidad necesaria para reinventarse.

Lo que reivindicamos es la transformación. Como pensamos un poco en la nota sobre Paco Amoroso, por ejemplo, el problema no es la heterosexualidad, el problema es la heteronorma. No por ser gays vamos a ser buenas personas ni por ser heteros vamos a ser malos. El problema es cuando una particularidad se convierte en norma y forma ejemplar, a costa de la desaparición, asesinato y opresión de otres. Es allí donde la experiencia de la experimentación, del juego, del salirse de sí se vuelve valiosa. No todos tenemos que transformarnos radicalmente y pasar a ser otras personas, pero sí todos deberíamos contemplar esa posibilidad, saber que existe, que la identidad no es estática, que estamos hechos de las personas que nos rodean y estamos en constante transformación. Ponderar positivamente el saber que no somos seres fijos y que las opresiones heredadas pueden ser cambiadas. Como nos compartió Benito, “tengo la certeza de que siempre vas a estar buscando, evolucionando y cambiando lo que sos”, y como cantaron los Telescopios, con un celebrable impulso poético pero quizás un error de timing político, cuando en 2015 escribieron: “Como si esto fuera solamente un buen pretexto, para ver esos colores fuertes, sin detenerlos. Cambiemos todo el tiempo que hace bien, deja que te pase el mundo”.
