Llega un nuevo 31 de octubre y la cosa se empieza a poner dark. Aunque en nuestro país no es muy usual, la celebración de Halloween es reconocida en todo el mundo como una excusa para divertirse y ponerse un buen disfraz; sin embargo, no faltan sus detractores. La temática ha llegado también a la música: Kiss con sus clásicos maquillajes, The Beatles con sus trajes para el álbum Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), Peter Gabriel con los originales vestuarios para sus shows y hasta Madonna con sus presentaciones temáticas inspiran algunos de los mejores outfits para vestir la noche de brujas. En esta nota repasamos las temáticas que más se han reflejado en la música.
- No apto para impresionables
Empezamos con uno de los videoclips más polémicos: se trata de Robbie Williams y su canción 'Rock DJ'. Robbie baila en el centro de una pista buscando llamar la atención de la DJ quitándose la ropa con un breve momento de desnudez frontal y luego procede a arrancarse la piel, los músculos y órganos hasta quedar como un esqueleto. En el momento de su estreno causó gran controversia por sus representaciones explícitas de sangre, canibalismo y desnudez, por lo que fue cortado por la mayoría de los canales de música.
En segundo lugar, para su tema 'Evil Eye', Franz Ferdinand optó por poner en su video de tintes vintage imágenes perturbadoras de todo tipo que incluyen fantasmas, monstruos caníbales y mucha sangre.
Por último, los VMAs son reconocidos por contar con las presentaciones más impactantes de los artistas nominados. Para su primera aparición en los premios del 2009, Lady Gaga deslumbró a toda la audiencia con una interpretación de 'Paparazzi' que la dejó cubierta de sangre y colgada en el medio del escenario.
- Calaveras y diablitos
The Killers le hizo honor al nombre de su tema 'Bones' incorporando como director de su videoclip al aclamado Tim Burton, quien los convierte a todos en esqueletos que se desarman al final.
Otro de los que entra en esta categoría es My Chemical Romance, debido a su aura oscura de los tiempos álgidos de las bandas emo. 'The Black Parade' nos muestra un desfile por un pueblo en ruinas, con personajes de lo más extraños que siguen la carroza del grupo mientras toca.
También contamos en este punto con el frontman de Panic! At The Disco Brendon Urie, que es convertido en un demonio a medida que el video de la canción 'Emperor’s New Clothes' se desarrolla. Luego de que Brendon muere, se busca representar cómo sería la continuación de una historia que no parece muy feliz.
- Casas encantadas
Uno de los clásicos de Halloween es el videoclip 'Everybody' de Backstreet Boys, quienes al ingresar a una gran mansión toman la forma de vampiros, momias, hombres lobo y raros personajes sin abandonar la coreografía en los seis minutos de duración del clip. Por su parte, 'Lullaby' de The Cure posee una estética totalmente fantasmagórica y onírica. Las telarañas se posan sobre los pisos, las paredes y hasta cubren al cantante Robert Smith sin que pueda moverse de su cama, siendo perseguido por una especie de alter-ego que lo termina comiendo (literalmente).
También está el ejemplo de Billie Eilish, quien mientras navega por los pasillos de un edificio cuando todos duermen con sus ojos completamente negros es captada por manos que la llenan de agujas y la arrastran por las distintas habitaciones en el video de 'bury a friend'. A su vez, con su canción 'Heart', los Pet Shop Boys nos llevan a una antigua casa donde un viejo Drácula sorprende a una pareja de recién casados enamorando a la novia.
Por último tenemos un ejemplo local con el videoclip de Barbie Recanati 'Que No', donde un grupo de brujas que habitan en su casa le piden algo de comer, por lo que la cantante decide traer a un invitado especial para ellas.
- Los músicos también se disfrazan
Son muchos los artistas adeptos a crear grandes vestuarios para asistir a las fiestas que se celebran este día. Entre sus elecciones tenemos a varios personajes famosos: Gomez y Morticia Addams elegidos por Joe Jonas y Sophie Turner, Ed Sheeran como el muñeco Chucky y The Weeknd y Bella Hadid como Betelgeuse y Lydia de Beetlejuice (1988). En cuanto a videoclips tenemos el caso de Maroon 5, quienes se disfrazan de Pokémon para su canción 'Don't Wanna Know', y Prince, que utilizó un traje mitad Batman mitad Guasón para 'Batdance', parte del soundtrack de la película de 1989.
Otra de las constantes a la hora de elegir un outfit para esta ocasión ha sido personificar a otros artistas. Así lo hicieron Rita Ora como Post Malone, copiando hasta su último tatuaje, Adam Levine como Axl Rose, Harry Styles como Elton John, con un brilloso traje y grandes lentes, y Katy Perry como Freddie Mercury, con dientes postizos y su característico bigote.
Cerramos con dos disfraces un tanto más bizarros e inspirados en comida: Katy Perry vestida de un chetto rojo con un paquete como cartera, y Good Charlotte en su video 'I Just Wanna Live', en el que luego de repartir volantes vestidos del menú que vendían consiguen que un gran empresario los lleve a la fama.
